• Gnome Lambda engine (24-32329) - 1/32

The Gnome Lambda was a 7-cylinder rotary engine producing about 80 hp (60 kW). Developed in France before World War I, it became one of the most widely used rotary engines of the early war period. Its simplicity, lightweight construction, and reliability made it ideal for early monoplanes and biplanes.

Aircraft powered by the Gnome Lambda

  • Fokker M.5 / M.5K (prototypes) – German copies of the French Morane-Saulnier designs, early scouting monoplanes.
  • Fokker E.I – the first German production Eindecker fighter; early examples used the Gnome Lambda.
  • Pfalz E-series (license-built Morane-Saulnier monoplanes) – early Pfalz monoplanes fitted with the Gnome Lambda.
  • Various pre-war sport and training aircraft – widely used in early experimental and training aircraft due to its light weight and reliability.

Historical significance

The Gnome Lambda was a key engine in the transition from pre-war sport and experimental aircraft to operational military fighters. It powered the earliest German monoplanes, helping establish the “Fokker Scourge” period in 1915, when the Eindecker gained temporary air superiority.{{freeshipping_code_1}}{{payment}}
