Clerget 9BF was an improved version of the 9B rotary engine, delivering slightly increased performance.

It was used in later production aircraft where incremental improvements in power and efficiency were required.

Typical applications included:
• Sopwith Camel (late production)
• Sopwith Baby

The 9BF reflects ongoing refinement of rotary engine design during the later stages of the war.
